Richard Bristow Artist Profile

Richard first studied art at Chartesey in London, mainly pen & ink work while studying draughtmanship,which he never took up, instead went into the film Industry working on films  & TV series in the UK and Australia. Richard and his family came to Australia in 1967 working for the ABC TV to start with, then branched out doing freelance Props/set dressing on Television Series and feature films in Sydney and Perth.

Richard and family moved to Western Australia in 1978.

He only began painting Watercolours in 1995,  when he took lessons in watercolour painting, also has done workshops with Robert Wade, Rex & Joan Knight, Alvaro Castagnet and Graham W Smith, demonstrations by Birgit O'Connor & Viktoria Prischedko   but otherwise mostly self taught. He is an active member of a number of Art groups, Richard also gives the odd demonstration, he is a member of the "Watercolour Society of WA",and a past member of the "Queensland Art Society" "Cairns Art Society" and the "Townsville Art Society" when he lived in Qld for three years

Richard treats painting as a hobby, he has written art tips for the "Watercolor Magic"(USA) & the "Leisure Painter"(UK) and has recently had published  4 paintings of his landscapes in "The Best of Worldwide Landscape Artists" Vol?. in the USA.

Richard has won over 60 art awards most recent being 2nd Prize Watercolour at the Wagin Woolarama 2016 "Best Watercolour" at the "2014 Lions Club Art Awards, Dunsborough, and the "Boddington Art Award 2011.2013,2014 and "Open Prize" 2016 at Boddington,  has had 10 successful Solo Exhibitions in WA & Qld.

Richard also helped Rex & Joan Knight run the "Estate Gallery" in Dunsborough also as "Artist in residence". and is past President of the "Dunsborough Art Society"

His paintings hang in homes and galleries across the world,in the UK,U.S.A Canada, Japan, Bermuda and most Australian States & Territories, paintings also have been purchased by local Councils  are then presented as gifts to visiting dignitaries.
